meeting and interview with Ferruccio and Stefano Pizzamiglio

What does it mean for the Tosa engage in a wine museum, currently the only on this issue throughout the Emilia-Romagna?

- For us it means meeting a great passion, preserve the memory of a vanished world and increase knowledge, draw on past information, experiences and insights useful for the present. Just to honor the sense of the past, we have dedicated to the memory of our father, Fernando Pizzamiglio.
In 1988 we started the collection of objects, now more than four hundred, almost all used in our area, dating back to a period between the start of the nineteenth and early twentieth century.
They gathered in a large room, according to a path that follows all the stages of production of grapes and wine: from the objects related to the cultivation of the vineyards to the wine-making equipment related, crushers, presses, barrels, filters, pumps, bottling and capping machines ; up on the corner of Cooper ', with all the tools for the construction of wooden barrels, and the first tools for the analysis of wine, all accompanied by catalogs of old wine-making equipment and old documents, prints and cries.
Highlights of the museum are a castellated, particularly driven barrel used to spray treatments of the screws and distribute fertilizers for the ground, a big press Mabille on the bandwagon of mid-nineteenth century, a barrel Vin Santo Piacenza in the same period and especially a filter airbags wardrobe unique.
Soon video and sound equipment complete the museum, for a past alive and full of meaning, that help us to understand and live better the present.
Currently, the museum is open by prior arrangement and phone.

... We speak of the Library ...

- Wine is culture, science, and this is our personal passion we instinctively thought when we started, around 1988, to collect books, documents and anything else on the subject.
Today everything is contained, as in a casket, a library linked to our museum, one of the few in Italy on this issue.

A specific collection concerns then nineteenth-century maps of vineyards in the province of Piacenza.

The museum's library has already been visited and used several times by students for dissertations and authors to obtain evidence and pictures for books on the history of wine. We have also started publishing books on the subject in the form of Working Papers Museum.
We are open to any initiative to preserve and study the immense wealth of knowledge on which our present rests.
