In a visit to the River Park Stirone and Piacenziano

From Agriturismo Podere Illica to Stirone Park and Piacenziano

In a visit to the River Park Stirone and Piacenziano
From Agriturismo Podere Illica you can reach in a few minutes drive Park Stirone Regional and Piacenziano.
The park, in its present structure, was born in late 2011, the union between the Regional Park River Stirone and the Natural Reserve of Geological Piacenziano.
Area Piacenziano spread throughout the territory in Piacentino and is distributed in five different valleys, in the municipalities around Castell'Arquato, Lugagnano Val d'Arda, Vernasca, Gropparello and Carpaneto Piacentino.
The entire park is of extraordinary importance in terms of palaeontology, thanks to the considerable presence of fossil finds Tertiary and Quaternary era, unearthed by erosion processes, which have made it known to the international scientific community.
Among the different routes that you can walk inside the park we propose two, but if you have more time there are so many excursions that you can make the discovery of this reality '.
The first itinerary is about three hours, is not very difficult and it 'the path that takes you to Mount Giogo.
While not presenting, as I said great difficulty, in the beginning you have to overcome a height difference of about 200 meters until you get to the area of ??the Cross.
Along the trail there are water points. As simple, climb the mountain goes calmly made (especially in the hot summer months) and savored with frequent stops to allow us to admire the panoramic views that gradually open over precious vineyards from which the grapes originate wines and Gutturnio Monterosso DOC
Another is the Path of Rio Stramonte.
The travel time is about one hour and thirty minutes.
The route is simple, although sometimes accentuated in the wooded slopes leading to the ravine, and it is partly muddy rainy periods.
The trail is accessible from the town of Lugagnano Val d'Arda along the road that leads to Prato Ottesola and from there up towards diol.
About 1 km after Prato Ottesola meets a clearing on the right where you can park your car and where the trail begins.
Leave the car and having read the educational panel with some notions about the protected area, take the dirt track on the right that goes between shrubs and oaks until reaching some vineyards of the ridge where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Val Chiavenna, area badlands of diol and Mount Giogo (to the east). Looking at the ground along the cart road and the edge of the screws, surprising the amount of fossil shells that will emerge and that reveal what treasure is hidden beneath our feet.
